What happens in a day at Jannali Pre-School
Whilst attending Jannali Pre-School your child will be involved in a variety of learning experiences, both indoors and outdoors. The most important thing to note is that all these experiences will be FUN.
We value both our indoor and outdoor space as a learning environment and plan our set-up accordingly with a wide range of activities, provided in both areas.
Experiences in which your child will engage include, but are not limited to:
Water play
Sand play
Dress-ups
Writing centres
Dough/clay
Painting
Construction
Computer
Language groups
Music groups
Through play our program provides your child with the opportunity to extend their skills in a range of developmental areas including literacy, mathematics, language, social development, emotional and physical.
The program provides for hands on learning on a daily basis. Your child's strengths and interests are the basis of our program, so there will always be something exciting, stimulating and educational for them to do.
We also have regular visitors and additional activities, such as, the Fire Brigade, the Reptile Man and Museum in a Box.
Please provide either dried or fresh fruit, ensuring that the fresh fruit is cut up, ready to eat. Cheese and savoury biscuits are also popular as are dips. The morning tea should be labeled and packed separate to lunch. This saves confusion for your child and ensures that lunch and morning tea are not eaten at the one time. Lunch
Please provide a nutritious lunch. For example, sandwiches and/or salad, cheese and biscuits, sultanas and a piece of fresh fruit. This is to be contained in a lunch box clearly labeled with your child's name. Please ensure that the wrapping used provides easy access for your child. Greaseproof is an example, and better for the environment too. We do have refrigerators available for any perishable type foods.
Please do not send lollies, cakes, chips, fairy bread, fruit roll-ups or health food bars. The only prepacked foods allowed are yoghurt, savoury biscuits, cheese and dried fruits. Jannali Pre-school is a peanut/nut free centre.
Please bring along a "pop-top" style bottle containing water only clearly marked with your child's name. (no juices or fizzy drinks). Milk can be brought to place in the refrigerators.
Clothing
Please dress your child in clothing that is easy for the child to manage, and can get dirty. For example: no belts, buckles, and zippers. All clothing should be labeled with your child's name. No responsibility will be taken for unlabeled clothing. Footwear must also be labeled and we request that thongs and clogs are not worn. The pre-school enforces a NO HAT - play inside policy for outdoor activities. Your child is required to wear a Legionnaire style hat. Sunscreen to exposed skin is highly recommended. This should be applied before leaving home or upon arrival by parent. PRE-SCHOOL LOGO T-SHIRTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE FROM THE OFFICE.

The Jannali Pre-School Kindergarten is a community based non-profit organization operated and managed under the Constitution by a voluntary parent management committee. The continued success of the pre-school can only be guaranteed by the support of the Parent Committee. Regular General Meetings are held during the year to keep the parents informed and to provide a forum for all parents to contribute to the management of the committee.
The Annual General Meeting is held in February each year. Parents are asked to volunteer their time and effort to participate as a member of the Management Committee or the Social Committee.
Classroom Helper
Parents are welcome at the pre-school at any time. We welcome parent participation in our centre. There are plenty of different activities where parents can be involved with the children. This is a great opportunity to watch your child's interaction at the pre-school and is greatly appreciated by the teachers. The time spent is entirely up to you, but would generally only be for an hour or two in the morning. (Note: please arrange for your toddlers who are not attending the pre-school to be cared for on your volunteer day). A volunteer roster is located outside each classroom.
Jannali Pre-School has been part of the community for over 40 years. Providing quality care and education for children 3-6 years. We have a great team of dedicated staff and volunteer parent committee.
Some of our children are second generation students who, like their parents before them, enjoy this dedication and the nurturing environment that Jannali Pre-School provides.
