Welcome to my Family Day Care, my name is Marina.
In July 1994 I joined Family Day Care. I really enjoy what I am doing because I find it very rewarding. My greatest pleasure is keeping the children safe and happy and watching them grow into confident little people.
My philosophy as a child carer is to provide a safe, warm and friendly atmosphere for the children in my care. I endeavour to help them with their development through interacting as a group in play, as well as doing little tasks like packing equipment away when changing to other activities.
Our daily routine allows them to know where we are at and through programming we can cover everyone's individual needs. From information obtained at the parent interview for care and from our check list on the children on the children's development I am able to work my programming around each child's specific needs.
I encourage taking turns in talking at all times. For example, when it is story time I would read a page, that being my turn. We then discuss the page, with the group taking turns to express themselves. We carry on in this manner until the end of the story. They then in turn want to read the story to me. They then in turn want to read the story to me. This exercise develops their confidence in communicating with others.
The parents and I communicate on a daily basis. I keep them informed of our activities in a communication book. Parents use the book to keep me informed of events that they feel I should know about, or to pass a remark about the craft or painting that the children take home. We find that this system works very well for all concerned.
I believe that children make progress at their own pace and should be made to feel comfortable about it.
Happiness and security in my group are my main priorities.
