What to wear and bring
We recommend that you dress you child in clothes where it doesn't matter if they accidentally get paint on them. The children do a lot of activities with paint, slime and goop which they enjoy and sometimes these types of activities but sometimes even aprons do not always work 100%. We suggest that you dress your child with the appropriate footwear - we would prefer if they did not come in shoes like Barbie High heels as they are not stable shoes for when play out outside.
We suggest that your child's bag you need:
-
A labelled drink bottled with juice or water;
-
A change of clothes
-
A supply of nappies for the day
-
Comforting item (if you feel is required)
-
A jumper
Please supply a labelled hat that can stay permanently at the kindergarten in their locker.
This way we can always be assured that the children have appropriate sun wear for outside play.
We try to teach the children to keep their hats in their lockers when inside and we incorporate putting their hats on during our daily routine.
We would prefer if you did not allow your children to bring toys, pretend jewellery or make up to the kindy as we have plenty of resources for the children to use. We have found that toys from home mainly cause arguments between the children. Also, small items like pretend jewellery can break and then become a choking or ingestion hazard. The Dolphin's room does have a show and tell day where the children can bring one item each to talk about at kindy. The staff will notify you of which day your child's show and tell day is.
Meals & Nutrition
All you child's meals are provided for at the centre in a nutritionally balanced menu that can be found displayed in each room. If you child has specific dietary needs or cultural dietary needs then please talk to the staff so we can prepare appropriate meals.
We provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. All meals are served with drinks.
Please do not bring junk food in with your child as we try to teach the children about healthy foods within our daily program.
We have a parent menu evaluation form that we ask you to complete during the year to gain your feedback or any ideas you may have. Please feel free at any time to discuss dietary concerns or suggestions with the staff.
Confidentiality
All matters regarding your child are treated with confidentiality at he centre. Enrolment forms are locked away and only staff have access. Information obtained through observations are also kept confidential and kept in a locked cupboard. If you wish to look at your child's developmental notes then please ask one of the teachers. Any other child's development notes are not shown to any other party except for staff members.
We require written permission by the parents in order to discuss developmental issues or any other matters to other parties including any specialists or doctors, for example.
Medication
All mediations needs to be removed from your child's bag upon entering the centre and handed to staff. You will also be required to fill in and sign a medication authorisation form before you leave. Medication will not be administered to any child without this slip being filled in. If you child has an ongoing condition that requires daily medication eg asthma, you will be required to fill out a management plan and return it to staff asap.
Accident reports
Any time that a minor accident occurs at the centre where your child falls over or bumps themselves then an accident report is completed by staff and presented to you at pick up time for you to sign. If the accident is serious staff will contact you immediately to inform you. If you child goes home on the mini bus then a copy of the form will be completed and placed in your child's bag for you to sign and return to the centre.
