The Centre itself is a state of the art purpose built centre and is open between the hours of 7.00am-6.00pm, Monday-Friday, 50 weeks per year.
Because positive relationships have such a lasting effect on a young child's life, we aim to care and nurture your child while building strong relationships and communication with you.
We look forward to meeting you and your child and discussing your child care needs, please do not hesitate to contact us either by email or phone or drop in at any time.
Sylvania Waters Early Education is a place where children are offered a comprehensive integrated program including care, education, health, safety and nutrition based provisions which seek to foster all aspects of children's development.
Play is fundamental for children to make meaning of the world around them.
Through the program we experience, investigate, explore, solve problems, create and practice...take risks, meet challenges, learn through our achievements and mistakes.
We offer support to all families using our service and to those who care for young children.
Everyone is a capable , resourceful and meaningful contributor to our group.
Our Early Learning Educators are the best in their field.
Their commitment and dedication to early childhood education will have a huge effect on your child's learning.
We aim to provide them with an environment where they can thrive and continue to learn and expand their knowledge on early learning.
They continue to reflect on their own practices and attend inservice courses and staff development sessions to keep up to date with industry changes.
During the latter part of the year, staff hold parent/teacher interviews to give you the opportunity to sit with your child's educator and discuss how they are going.
With this in mind, goals will be set in consultation with you and evaluated regularly.
The staff would love to hear feedback from you so if you have something to share please let them know.
To allow children to be resourceful learners they must first feel safe and secure in their environment.
We aim to provide your child with a home like environment where they feel cared for with warmth and security.
The Centre has 3 Playrooms that provide the children with age and stage appropriate activities and experiences.
This comprehensive program will enable the children to develop and build upon their skills and challenge their strengths.
The NEST
This is our 0-2's Room and Nursery and cares for 10 children each day with 2 carers, a ratio of 1:5 is required by DOCS.
A separate bathing and changing area is provided as well as a bottle and food preparation space.
This area is very well equipped for all your babies' needs.
Their sleep room is quiet and cosy and encourages good sleep patterns.
We will endeavour to work with you to create good sleeping and eating habits for your child.
The Wonder Room
This is our 2-3's Room and cares for 14 children with 2 Educators
(1:8 ratio) is required by DOCS.
This is a place of wonder, delight and curiosity for our very busy and curious 2-3 year olds. Here they have every opportunity to be active learners and be given time to play and learn in a nurturing environment.
The Discovery Room
This room cares for 15 children aged 4-5 years with 2 Educators, a ratio of 1:10 is required by DOCS.
This room provides the children with an interest based program that encourages them to explore and discover in an environment that is encouraging and supportive of their interests.
This room also focuses on School Readiness and plans throughout the year to have your child as prepared as they can be for school.
"Big School" can be very daunting for some children so the more comfortable and confident they feel before they start the less stressful it will be for them and for you. Our School Readiness Program starts at the beginning of the year and runs through the entire year.
The centre's philosophy provides an important framework within which programming decisions are made.
Feedback and observations from the children are used to program learning experiences along with The NSW Curriculum Framework for Children's Services provided by the NSW Department of Community Services.
The basis for all experiences in the centre will come from the children themselves.
From talking to the children, listening to them and the conversations they have with their friends, we will provide them with a range of activities and experiences that broadens their ideas and knowledge and encourages them to ask questions.
The Program format enables the staff to build upon the project that they're working on with the children by adding to the experiences and activities as they happen.
Because the program is interest based from the children, there will be an initial starting point Eg: a child brought in a shell from holidays.
This interest will continue to expand by looking at the beach, creatures that live in the sea, what is the sea?, why is the sea there?, how can we look after the sea? And so on.
From one starting point, this interest from the children may continue for weeks or months depending on their enthusiasm. It will branch out to all aspects of the program including art expression, maths and science, social interactions, writing and language skills etc.
Therefore, if your child has an interest or passion for something please let us know and we will help them to explore, learn and discover their world.
Our Weekly Menu is developed by Kids Gourmet Food, a premier child care catering service exclusively devoted to providing nutritious meals for children aged 0-5 years.
The Menu rotates over 10 weeks and is displayed in each of the playrooms for your interest.
Our Kitchen Assistant has attended the following courses:
Food Handling and Food Safety and Hygiene
The menu also offers a Vegetarian option and also meals for children with allergies.
If your child has any allergies at all you must provide us with a doctor's certificate or letter from your Paediatrician stating their allergies and how we are to deal with them should they have a reaction.
Lunch Time is used as an opportunity to talk to children about nutrition, healthy eating and the importance of good manners.
Our Open Door Policy means that you are welcome any time of the day to come and visit the centre. If you ever want to check on your child feel free to pop in and check or call and ask how they are going.
